Vhi announces the extension of its Health Screening Service to the West of Ireland

21st August 2018:  Vhi today announced the opening of the Vhi Medical Centre in Galway which will provide its customers with health checks and screening services. The health screening is designed to give customers an overview of their health, help identify risk factors that may cause potential health issues in the future and allow customers take a more proactive approach to managing their health.

Vhi health checks and screenings gives customers’ information about their health so they can decide if needed, to make lifestyle changes to reduce their risk of future problems. It may also identify conditions people weren’t aware of that may require further follow-up and investigation.

Pamela Treacy, Corporate Account Manager, Vhi said we are delighted to bring these services to the West of Ireland. The opening of Vhi’s Medical Centre in Galway comes almost a year after Vhi also extended its Hospital@Home service to the West of Ireland providing hospital-in-the-home services to Vhi customers in the area.”

She continued “Today’s announcement is part of Vhi’s commitment to the regions ensuring as many of our customers as possible have access to these new innovative services and benefits which deliver real value for our customers. The expansion of Vhi’s Medical Centre to Galway will offer an enhanced service our customers in the West of Ireland. If you want to improve your health, you need to know where you are and establishing what that baseline is, is a very important first step. Once you know your numbers, you can then track how you’re progressing over time and keep yourself accountable. Health screening services provides a snapshot of certain specific aspects of your health at a point in time and gives a good benchmark and starting point to becoming a healthier version of you.”

The Vhi Medical Centre, based on the Headford Road, Galway provides health-screening packages for both individual and corporate customers. There are four packages available, these are - CancerCheck, HeartCheck, Screen Essential for those aged under 50 and Screen Extra, the most comprehensive test. Vhi customers should check their Table of Benefits to determine what level of cover they have under their particular policy.

Vhi has also announced it has expanded the geographical spread of its Vhi Hospital@Home service. This consultant-led hospital-in-the-home service allows suitable patients to leave hospital earlier and continue treatments in their own home under the daily care of Vhi doctors and nurses. The service opened in Galway one year ago and now due to demand for the service in the West of Ireland, it is being expanded with certain geographical restrictions.

Research has shown that patients prefer to be treated for certain medical conditions in the comfort of their own home, with their family and friends around, them rather than in hospital.

Both the Vhi Hospital@Home service and Vhi’s Medical Centres are accredited by an internationally recognised accreditation body (Joint Commission International - JCI).
