When you need to make a claim, we're there for you

We try to make the claims process as easy and stress free for you as possible. To make a start, you can simply choose a category and you'll find everything you need to make your claim. This includes advice on assessing the eligibility of your claim and the specific forms you'll need to submit it, once you're sure that your claim is eligible.

 

With Vhi Healthcare, you won't have to settle the bills yourself before making a claim. We have direct payment agreements with hospitals, ensuring you can just focus on getting better. To help us complete the payment, all you need to do is simply complete the relevant section of your claim form provided to you on admission to the hospital.

Vhi Special Investigations Unit

We're committed to doing all we can at Vhi to manage the rising cost of healthcare and ensure we deliver the best value for money to our customers. We do this in a number of ways, from negotiating competitive prices with treatment providers to managing our own costs.

 

Our Special Investigations Unit (SIU) looks into inappropriate charging and errors in claims. Since its inception in 2009, our investigations have saved over €215 million.

Our Special Investigations Unit consists of experienced, knowledgeable and dedicated professional investigators including Certified Fraud Examiners. Our team has extensive clinical expertise and law enforcement experience.

 

Anyone can contact our Special Investigations Unit where they have information to suggest that Vhi has been billed incorrectly. Your help may lead to an increase in savings for Vhi and our customers. We act on every report we get and promise to let you know the outcome.

  • Incorrect charges billed, such as drugs, x-rays or scans
  • Incorrect admission and/or discharge date billed
  • Procedure or treatment was not performed or cancelled
  • Incorrect procedure billed
  • Mistakes in accommodation billed (ICU/multi room occupancy/single room occupancy)
  • Where patients have been contacted following their discharge from a public hospital seeking to change their status from public to private during their admission
