Vhi 360 Health Centre represents introduction of new model of healthcare in Ireland

February 23rd 2022: Vhi 360 Health Centre Carrickmines has today officially opened its doors. The  opening of the 5,000 square metre, five-storey  multi-disciplinary Centre represents the introduction of a pioneering new model of healthcare in Ireland which will take a holistic, 360 view of patient health including physical, mental and emotional wellbeing to ultimately improve outcomes.

To mark this exciting moment Vhi ambassadors Donal and Sofie Skehan, along with their two sons Noah and Oliver, visited the Vhi 360 Health Centre Carrickmines ahead of the official opening.

Vhi 360 Health Centre Carrickmines will provide customers with access to an expanded range of diagnostic services including X-Ray, MRI, Ultrasound and a bone density imaging Dexa scan. The state of the art diagnostic services are available alongside a suite of personalised healthcare programmes delivered by a multi-disciplinary team trained in integrative medicine. These bespoke healthcare programmes, which include health coaches, sleep management, physiotherapy, pilates, psychotherapy, and meditation, will enable Vhi clinicians to provide a more proactive and integrated approach to patient health.

Speaking about his tour of Vhi 360 Health Centre at Carrickmines, Donal Skehan said “We were thrilled to get the opportunity as a family to check out the brand new Vhi 360 Health Centre at Carrickmines. Vhi 360 Health Centre is not just about treating illness or injuries, but it’s also about wellness – focusing on the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and prevention which is a brilliant way to approach our overall wellbeing. The recent experiences of the pandemic have made us as a family more aware of how our health and wellbeing is connected to our lifestyle and environment. It was a big part of why we moved back home to Ireland and it’s really exciting to see a space like this, making so many services available under one roof.”

The Centre, which is located just off the M50, is also home to an expanded Urgent Care Facility providing treatment for minor injuries and illnesses, minor procedures and out-of-hours emergency dental treatment, alongside rapid access to consultant paediatricians. There is a dedicated paediatric floor designed with child friendly treatment rooms including a special sensory room and a specialist ADHD Clinic.

Vhi Group CEO Declan Moran said “Today is a hugely important day for Vhi. Our overarching aim is to help our customers live longer, stronger, healthier lives and the Vhi 360 Health Centre Carrickmines is the physical representation of this ambition which will transform our customer’s experience of health and wellbeing.

“Vhi has a long history of innovating in healthcare in Ireland, we introduced urgent care clinics which are now a hugely important and well established part of the healthcare landscape. We do know our customers’ needs are evolving and they want to be more proactive in their own healthcare, they want a joined up experience that enables them to live healthier lives. Here at Carrickmines Vhi customers will have un-paralleled access to integrated, proactive healthcare like we have never seen before in this country which we know will lead to better health outcomes.”

Vhi Chief Clinical Officer Dr Nicholas Young said “Our ambition is centred on a new model of care – one that is built on the principles of integrative care and integrative medicine – patient centred, healing orientated, considering the body, mind and spirit as part of any treatment plan. For our customers this will involve a whole team working together so all care episodes are connected rather than standalone events.  Customers will have consultations that treat the whole person rather than the obvious ailment and link general health outcomes and lifestyle. So a care plan may include traditional medicine – as well as lifestyle medicine in areas of sleep, nutrition, resilience, environment, movement or complementary and alternative therapies such as pilates, yoga and meditation, which will be held in our dedicated studios.”

Dr Olivia Murphy, Senior Clinical Psychologist at Vhi said “We are very excited about the opportunity to be able to treat our patients here at Carrickmines where we are truly embedding the concept of holistic healthcare. This 360 model of care is not restricted by walls and windows, it is the culture and ethos by which care will be delivered. However the environment is fundamental to it and we have a very unique and exciting opportunity with Carrickmines to work in a building that actively contributes to the wellbeing of our customers by enabling the 360 model of care.

“So this means multiple collaborative spaces where care teams will meet and plan individual health programmes, natural light is prioritised and while noise has been reduced in order to create calm, bright and quiet spaces. Public areas are largely digital free with seamless technology solutions such as MRI machines with added features to reduce stress and anxiety.”

Vhi 360 is now Ireland’s largest urgent care network – including our 360 Health Centre in Limerick and our Vhi SwiftCare Clinics in Swords and in Cork. In 2020, Vhi launched its first Vhi 360 Health Centre in Limerick, and it has plans to open further facilities over the next few years.
