Policy renewal queries

Yes it does, provided your payment details are on file. This saves you the hassle of renewing and possibly having a break in your insurance.

Renewal documentation is sent to your MyVhi account, in the Documents section, or in the post approximately 1 month before your renewal date, depending on your contact preferences.

If you have a number of policies with us i.e. dental, travel, etc, you can view this information in MyVhi, where you can select each product to view the details in full.

Yes, if you contact us within 14 days of your renewal date. You can call us on 056 444 4444 to discuss this. Thereafter, your policy will renew for a 12 month contract based on your current level of cover.

Should you wish to make changes to your plan or cancel your policy, you’ll need to contact us within 14 days of the renewal date.

Your Vhi Healthcare contract is for a one-year period from the start date of your policy. To see this, you can log in to MyVhi and select the 'Policy' section. Here, you will see your next renewal date. Alternatively, you can select ‘Documents’ in MyVhi also, and view your renewal documentation. 

Policy holders can view this in MyVhi. This can be found on your renewal documents or on your membership certificate. You can log in to MyVhi and in the ‘My Policy’ section, you will see all members listed here.

If you would like to view your benefits, simply log in to MyVhi. Select the 'Documents' section. Here, you will find details of your benefits in the Table of Benefits document.

If you are due to renew your policy, just provide some details and specify any benefit in particular that you would like cover for with our easy to use fact find. You will see all plans that are suitable for you once you have provided the relevant details. You can select everything from the type of hospital accommodation you would like to the excess you are comfortable paying.

You can also call us on 056 444 4444 to discuss your options. Our phone lines are available from Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm and Saturday, 9am to 3pm.

Benefits can change from year to year. You will receive information on benefits added or removed from your plan in your renewal pack, which is made available to you approx. 30 days before your renewal date. This can be accessed in MyVhi in the 'Documents' section. Alternatively, this will be posted to you, depending on your contact preference. 

There are no waiting periods for an accident or injury claim, or an everyday medical expense on any health plan. However, the following applies to new members taking out health insurance for the first time, including those on salary deduction and subsidy payment schemes:

  • New conditions – 26 weeks.
  • Pre-existing conditions – 5 years.
  • Maternity or Fertility Programme – 52 weeks.

If you upgrade your plan, these waiting times apply:

  • Pre-existing conditions – 2 years.
  • Maternity or Fertility Programmes – 52 weeks.

Please note, you will be considered a new member should you have a break of more than 13 weeks in your health insurance with us.

Policy documents

You will receive your renewal documents approx. 30 days before your policy is due to renew. You will find this information in MyVhi. Simply log in, select the 'Documents' section and you will find all details relating to the renewal of your policy.

If you have chosen to receive these by post, they will have a similar timeframe.
