Tips to help you stay safe online

Calls, SMS messages and emails are the most common methods used to scam us. The best protection is simply not to engage. Never provide your personal details or verify them without being sure of who the sender is.

1. Stop

Stop and think before you do anything. Do not click or respond.

2. Check

Verify the sender or caller. If they're claiming to be from Vhi, contact us directly using offical contact information. Generally, never use links or numbers provided in an email.

3. Protect

Call your bank if your financial details may have been compromised. Call Vhi, if you suspect your Vhi account has been affected.

4. Delete

Delete suspicious emails and block scam callers.

How to spot a scam call or email

There are several ways to check the authenticity of a call or email, including:

1. Supicious sender

Check the sender's email address. It should be from the company the sender is claiming to be from.

2. Urgency or threats

Messages or calls demanding immediate action.

3. Unfamiliar links or attachments

These will prompt you to select or open fake websites, links or malware downloads.

4. Request for personal information

Businesses will never ask for this information through email or calls.

5. Grammatical errors

Critically review the content for poor grammar, misspellings and unusual formatting.
