About our service

  • GP-led care with no referral needed. We support our members from first consultation through to scans and follow-up treatment. 
  • A team of women’s health GPs, nurses and physiotherapists listen and assess your symptoms. A plan is then tailored to you. 
  • If we cannot provide a test or treatment at our clinic, we may refer you to our trusted partner, Blackrock Health Women’s Health Centre or other approved provider.

We treat

  • Hot flushes and/or night sweats.

  • Mood changes such as anxiety/irritability, 'brain fog' and memory/concentration changes.

  • Insomnia.

  • Vaginal dryness/discomfort.

  • Painful sexual intercourse.

  • Dry skin/hair.

  • Low libido.  

CervicalCheck

We provide cervical screening as part of the national cervical screening programme, CervicalCheck. Note, this link opens an external site (HSE).

We don't treat or provide

  • Antenatal care.

  • Specialist gynaecological care including cancer care.

  • Complex urogynaecological procedures.

  • Fertility treatment.

  • Investigation of breast lumps. 

  • Severe mental health issues or crisis.

  • Post-menopausal or post-coital bleeding investigations.

  • Inpatient gynaecological care.

How it works

Appointment

Book an appointment in Vhi App. An initial assessment then takes place over the phone/online. 

Review

A clinician reviews your health history and symptoms. Bring previous test results relevant to your concerns, if possible.

Diagnostics

Investigations and diagnostics may take place, depending on your symptoms and concerns.

Treatment

A consultation is scheduled with a team member to discuss treatment and next steps.

Costs and cover

Initial visit

Members typically pay an excess for the initial visit.

  •  If your plan includes a '360 Health Clinic' benefit, the excess is usually €50 or €75.
  • If your plan does not include this benefit, you will be required to pay the full cost of the initial visit.

Follow-up visits

Charges for follow‑up visits vary depending on the service or clinician you attend.

  • Some follow‑up appointments may be included as part of your personalised care pack.
  • For others, members may be required to pay an excess.
  • If your plan does not include the Vhi 360 Personalised Follow-On Package, you will be required to pay the full cost of the follow-up visits similar to the initial visit.

Blackrock Health Women's Centre - now available to Vhi members!

Our women’s health clinic offers quick, accessible care for common concerns. Our partnership with specialist centres like Blackrock Health provides a smooth pathway to consultant‑led expertise, whenever more advanced care is needed.

GP referral  is required to access Blackrock Health Women's Health Centre - appointments within 10 days (non-urgent) and 3 days, if urgent. 

Frequently asked questions

Perimenopause is the transitional period leading up to menopause. For most women, it begins between 45 and 55 years of age.

Menopause is the permanent cessation of menstruation (periods), diagnosed when a person has had no periods for one year or more. The average age of this in Ireland is 51 years of age.

Access state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment from scans to x-rays and more. If required, an appointment for diagnostics will be scheduled at the earliest availability and convenience, following your initial consultation.
Other clinical tests can include bloods, swabs and urine analysis.

Led by GPs with a special interest in women's health who provide a personalised, holistic assessment. 

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist

Can help with conditions such as urinary incontinence, uterine prolapse, painful sexual intercourse, difficulty with penetration and decreased sensation during intercourse.

Psychologist

Symptoms including depressed mood, anxiety, irritability, mood swings, low self-esteem and difficulty with concentration can occur during menopause.

Health Coach

Physical activity, diet, smoking and alcohol consumption have a significant impact on menopause symptoms. Our Health Coach can empower you to make and sustain positive lifestyle changes to reach health goals.
