Initial consultation: typically €100 - €150 depending on your plan. Some plans may have no fertility cover.
Tests/screening: we pay either a percentage or specific amount towards many fertility tests/screening, depending on your plan. This is paid directly to your chosen clinic.
Preservation: egg/sperm freezing – many plans offer set benefits (i.e. €1,000 for egg freezing, once per lifetime).
Treatment: we provide specified amounts/percentages on up to 2 treatments per lifetime on many plans. Benefits are specific to each plan, as are treatments covered.
Support services: benefit towards fertility counselling and complementary supports like acupuncture are plan dependent.
Fertility cover depends wholly on your plan. See your Table of Benefits for details. Benefits are paid directly by Vhi to your chosen clinic. Note, gender specific benefits can only be claimed by the insured member using that benefit (i.e. IUI can only be claimed by our female members).

No. We do not cover fertility treatment abroad. We are partnered with a number of specialist clinics in Ireland only. You will find those listed in our Directory of Approved Medical Facilities.
Depending on your plan, we provide cover for many tests that involve scans, hormone testing, semen analysis and other pathology tests. We do not cover exploratory gynaecological procedures like hysteroscopy or similar.
Yes, once they're included on your plan these benefits are open to all adult members, including single people, LGBTQ+, individuals and all family types.
We do not provide cover for, or towards, donor sperm or donor eggs for any member.
Vhi has a 52-week waiting period for new members. A waiting period may also apply if you decide to upgrade your existing plan.
