Parents can spend less time worrying with a team of paediatric specialists available at Vhi 360 Health Centre, Carrickmines. Access expert advice on a range of childhood conditions, from recurring ailments to mild and moderate developmental conditions, for children and adolescents up to 16 years of age.

General Paediatric Clinic

 

Consultant paediatricians provide advice on conditions affecting children and adolescents, including abdominal pain, persistent cough, feeding difficulties, colic, and more.

You can now visit without GP referral.

Measles and other Viral Symptoms (Mumps / Chickenpox / Flu)

If you think that you or your child has measles, please tell us at the Reception Desk immediately upon arrival.  

Please wear a mask (available at Reception Desk), practice safe cough etiquette & wash your hands.

If you have any other viral symptoms (including sore throat, runny nose, headache or fever) or unexplained new rash associated with swollen glands or a temperature, please do not walk in to a clinic - call us to make an appointment.

Treatment

Care is provided for an extensive range of issues.

Diagnostics

Access state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment from scans to X-rays. If required, an appointment will be made at your child's consultation for a later date. Clinical tests can also include bloods as part of a consultation, if necessary.

Paediatric Ultrasound

Children will be referred to our Paediatric Ultrasound Clinic which runs monthly, should this examination be required. 

X-ray

Children will be referred for an X-ray, when necessary.

Preparation for consultation

APPOINTMENT

Referral is not required. Call to make an appointment or email: paediatrics@vhi360.ie. You will need to complete a pre-appointment screening form. 

 

WHAT TO BRING

You will need your policy number. 

Please note, we only accept contactless payment at this time.

 

 

CHECK-IN

We may ask some screening questions to identify if isolation is required, due to viral symptoms.

A face mask will be provided, if required.

How it works

Many of our plans offer full cover for an initial visit, with an excess. If follow-up care is required, you may be fully covered for a number of visits.

Should your child be referred for additional visits with a consultant or specialist led care, a co-payment may apply depending on your cover. See your Table of Benefits for full details.

Consultant led care

Dr. David Vaughan

Consultant Paediatrician

Dr. David Vaughan's primary focus is innovation in the care of children, with patient safety at the forefront. Having graduated from UCD in 1992, he undertook training in paediatrics in Dublin from 1993 - 1998. 

 

Dr. Vaughan trained in Paediatric Intensive Care in the US at Seattle Children's 1998 - 2000 and Paediatric Respiratory Medicine in Texas Children's 2000 - 2003. 

 

In 2003, he was appointed a Consultant Paediatrician in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. He was Director of Leadership in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (2011 - 2013) and Director of Quality and Safety for Hamad Medical Corporation (2013 - 2016), Director of Quality and Safety Children's Health Ireland (2016 - 2020).

Dr Daire O’Leary

Consultant Paediatrician

Dr Daire O’Leary is a consultant paediatrician with a special interest in paediatric rheumatology.          Dr O'Leary supports children in our general paediatric clinic as well as supporting children that need further Rheumatological care.

 

She qualified from UCD in 2006 and completed basic and specialist training in paediatrics in Ireland, including subspecialty training in paediatric rheumatology.  She completed a masters in clinical education through University College Galway and worked in clinical education for 4 years. 

 

She received the Newman Fellowship in Paediatric Rheumatology through University College Dublin Newman Foundation and completed a PhD looking at the genetics of a rare rheumatic disease called chronic nonbacterial osteomyelitis (CRMO/CNO). 

 

In addition to her clinical work in Vhi, she continues to collaborate on a number of research projects in the fields of rheumatology and clinical education.

This specialist clinic offers assessment of day-to-day challenges, and intervention services for children and adolescents with mild to moderate developmental issues.

 

GP referral is required.

Multidisciplinary team

Care is provided by a paediatric multidisciplinary team to ensure your child gets the right supports. 

Waiting list for new appointments

Due to high demand for our paediatric services we have a waiting list in place for new appointments. If your child is acutely unwell, please contact your GP, Vhi SwiftCare Clinic / 360 Health Centre (if over 12 months) or local A&E.
